Odontotherapy is the branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of dental caries. When oral hygiene is not performed properly, the result is the destruction of the outer surface of the tooth, i.e. the enamel and the dentin.

Caries treatment is performed by removing the affected tissue and replacing it with a composite filling that will restore the shape and functionality of the tooth.
